Daily Painting - Landscape - Rythmn (Wild Flowers At Cades Cove)

Rythmn (Wild Flowers At Cades Cove) 4.5 in. x 6.5 in. Watercolor On Paper - $60

This is a group of wild flowers along the loop road at Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains. This valley in the park is an incredibly beautiful place, the whole area is full of amazing flowers, plants, wildlife, etc. I thought that these kind of run-of-the-mill white flowers by the gravel road had an interesting pattern to them with the mountains in the background. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

Still Life - Life Vest

Life Vest 16 in. x 20 in. Oil On Linen Panel - SOLD

This is an old striped life vest, probably from the 1960's. I came across this at someones house the other day. It was kind of nostalgic for me because I remember having one of these striped vests when I was 3 or 4 years old. I hope that you like the painting!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Kevin Kayaking

Kevin Kayaking 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This is a friend of mine Kayaking on the Caney Fork river. A group of us bought Kayaks for fishing a few months ago and have been taking trips down local rivers and lakes. This one was in the morning with some of the fog still on the river. On this day TVA was generating hard because of the rain that we have had in middle TN this summer so the river was way up with the water in the trees. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

Seascape - Seagulls

Seagulls 11 in. x 14 in. Oil On Panel

This is a group of seagulls on the rocks on the coast of Monhegan Island in Maine. This was mid-morning and the fog from the water was beginning to lift and direct sunlight was beginning to hit the objects on the shore. I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Seascape - Bell House At Pemequid Point Maine

Bell House At Pemequid Point Maine 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel

This is the old bell house at the Pemequid Point lighthouse near New Harbor, Maine. This came from a trip to Maine a while back. The rocky point that this bell house sits on has the Pemequid lighthouse on it and is unbelievably beautiful. Probably thousands of people have painted the lighthouse over the years. Andrew Wyeth painted it several times in the 1960's. I wanted to try the bell house with the fog lifting. I hope that you enjoy the painting.

Daily Painting - Still Life - Doorknob, Spoon, And Thread

Doorknob, Spoon, And Thread 5 in. x 7 in. Oil On Panel

This is an old glass doorknob, an antique silver spoon, and a spool of red thread. We have had several of these old glass doorknobs laying around the house for years. I finally decided to paint one of them. For this composition I put the spoon in to give some horizontal balance to the painting and I thought that the red thread added interesting color. I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Morning River Fog

Morning River Fog 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel

These are two kayaks on the Caney Fork in the morning fog. The river was up all weekend due to generation at Center Hill Dam from all of the rain in middle TN this summer. I saw these two people, a father and his daughter, floating down the river towards the Happy Hollow ramp in the morning fog. I thought that all of the green on the hills and the morning fog made an interesting composition. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

SOLD

This is a fly fisherman on the Caney Fork river in Tennessee. This guy was fishing part of the river when our group that was kayak fishing stopped for a break. He walked by in his waders with his gear and I thought that he would make an interesting painting. I hope that you enjoy it.

Daily Painting - Landscape - River Limb

River Limb 11 in. x 14 in. Oil On Linen Canvas On Panel

This is a limb above a gravel river bank on the Caney Fork. The light on a river in the hills is interesting. The river cuts out the rock on the shoreline and the trees overhang the water creating darkness near the half-light from the sun and surrounding hills. This painting is so familiar to me, it reminds me of fishing and camping, and the jon boat that we had when I was growing up. I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Kayaks And Canoe

Kayaks And Canoe 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel

These are two kayaks and a canoe. The painting came from a recent fishing trip down part of the Caney Fork river with several friends. This river is a really good trout stream. This day wasn't tremendous for fishing for us, but the weather was perfect and it was a good trip. We had stopped for a break on a gravel bank for a few minutes and the composition for this painting came from our colorful boats on the bank. I hope that you enjoy the painting.

Daily Painting - Still Life - Red Flowers

Red Flowers 5 in. x 7 in. Oil On Panel

These are red geraniums in a small glass vase. I really like painting these flowers, and painting glass. So this painting combined two of my favorite things to paint. I hope that you enjoy it!

Still Life - Needle, Thread, And Pewter Cup

Needle, Thread, And Pewter Cup 8 in. x 14 in. Oil On Panel

This is an old pewter cup that I had in my studio and a spool of red thread. I had used this cup in a painting a few days ago and I decided to paint it again and pair it with something of bright color to contrast with the grayish colors of the cup. The idea hit me to use thread as the second object in the painting and to try to tie the two objects together with the long shadow and the thin red thread that I unwound from the spool. For me this is an interesting composition. I hope that you enjoy it!

Still Life - Weighing Coffee

Weighing Coffee 16 in. x 20 in. Oil On Panel

This is a old metal scale, a pewter cup, and coffee beans. The scale came from the barn of a doctor friend and is probably very old, an antique I suspect. When I saw the scale it set the color scheme for the painting, lots of rusty earth tones. I really liked the light and the overall feeling of the composition. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

Still Life - Tarnished Silver Coffee Pot

Tarnished Silver Coffee Pot 11 in. x 14 in. Oil On Panel

This is a tarnished antique silver coffee pot, a wooden box, and a croquet ball, with a scrap of aluminum foil and plastic wrap. This was a painting that I wanted to do to test and stretch myself a bit. Tarnished metal, foil, completely round objects, and smooth wood have, at least for me, an element of difficulty beyond the norm and I wanted to try them together in one painting. Very challenging, and very fun to paint. I hope that you enjoy it!

Still Life - Cardboard, Canvas, And Bubble Wrap

Cardboard, Canvas, And Bubble Wrap 11 in. x 14 in. Oil On Linen Canvas - BID ON OR BUY THIS PAINTING.

The subject of this paintings is a group of things that are typically laying around my studio. Cardboard boxes, canvas scraps, and bubble wrapping. This painting is fairly tight realism, but to me the composition is somewhat of an abstraction. The abstract feel of the composition was more important to me than the actual items. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

Still Life - Sun Dress

Sun Dress 18 in. x 24 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This is a dress owned by my daughter. I had done a smaller painting of part of the dress a few months back, and I really liked the painting so I wanted to do the full dress.I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Spring Field

Spring Field 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This is a scene from a farm very close to my house. The property is used to raise goats and is really attractive. It has acres of open fields with tall grass being typical, and a lot of grove areas with clusters of trees. I thought that the deep almost summer green of the trees really contrasted nicely with the grass that has a somewhat yellow or gold tint to it. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

Daily Painting - Still Life - Pink Hat

Pink Hat 12 in. x 16 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This pink antique hat has been on my wife's dresser since I can remember. I thought that the faded pink color and the antique wrought iron hat stand were interesting enough to put into a composition by themselves without other items laying around the table. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

Daily Painting - Still Life - Geranium Study

Geranium Study 5 in. x 7 in. Oil On Panel

This is a study of a group of geraniums that I did over the weekend. These are some of my wife's geraniums that are in a concrete planter in the yard. I thought that it would be fun to do a study of them without trying to make the painting too detailed. This turned out to be an interesting (at least to me) painting. With the light on them the flowers were a very bright red, almost orange and I thought that it contrasted well with the rougher painted green of the foliage. I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Still Life - Little Roses

Little Roses 5 in. x 7 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This is a round glass vase with a bunch of small roses. This was actually something that my wife had sitting out on our kitchen table (something that she does often to give me a little inspiration). I moved it up to my studio and put the vase on a darker table. I really like the light inside the vase. I hope that you enjoy the painting.

Daily Painting - Still Life - Iris In A Blue Vase

Iris In A Blue Vase 20 in. x 24 in. Oil On Panel

These are iris from my wife's garden. The bulbs were given to my wife years ago by a friend of hers. They are absolutely huge flowers. I was really attracted to the blue color of the vase with the white of the flowers and table cloth. I hope that you enjoy the painting!
