Daily Painting - Still Life - Tea

Tea 5 in. x 7 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This is a bag of tea tacked to a cardboard background. I'm not sure that this piece is exactly a trompe l'oeil painting due to the vignette background but it does have that feel to me. Normally my still life are painted from a horizontal perspective, but I thought that the subject was interesting and it seemed like a good opportunity to try a visual perspective that was different for me. To be honest I'm really happy with the outcome. I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Winter Trees And Field

Winter Trees And Field 8 in. x 8 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This is a stand of winter trees in a field. This scene is on farm land that my family owns in north-central Tennessee, near the Kentucky border. Winter scenes are some of my very favorite to paint, and this farm has a lot of paintable areas. The farm is in an area that is about as remote as you can get in the mid-south, so its very easy to get synched up with the environment when painting here. I was attracted to this composition primarily because of the scruffy look of these wind-blown trees, and the heavy brown winter grass. I'm very happy with this piece, I hope that you enjoy it too!

Daily Painting - Still Life - Golden Pear

Golden Pear 6 in. x 6 in. Oil On Panel - BID ON OR BUY THIS PAINTING.

This is a pear sitting on a silver Ball jar ring in front of a wooden background. Using heavy shadows and direct side lighting is one of my favorite ways to set up a composition. I thought that the ring from the Ball jar lid helped make for an interesting composition as well as adding variety from the 'earthy' pear and the wood surrounding it. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

Daily Painting - Still Life - Pears In A Wooden Box

Pears In A Wooden Box 5 in. x 7 in. Oil On Panel - BID ON OR BUY THIS PAINTING.

These are three pears in an old wooden box. I did something similar to this last year with peppers, and as I was deciding what I wanted to paint today the idea hit me to paint these pears chiaroscuro in a similar composition. The rectangles in the painting are interesting to me considering that once it is in a frame there will be the rectangle of the box, the front of the table in the foreground, and finally the frame around the painting. I'm very happy with this one, I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Still Life - Eggs And Glass

Eggs And Glass 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

These are three eggs in a wine glass. I had decided to do a painting with eggs several weeks ago and I couldn't figure out how I wanted to do it. I decided on this composition with the eggs in a glass surrounded by the shells, partly because it is a bit different and partly because I found it interesting. In the end the painting was a little more difficult that I thought it would be initially because of the subtle blending required for the shells. I really like the painting, I hope that you enjoy it too!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Rainy Winter Night

Rainy Winter Night 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel - BID ON OR BUY THIS PAINTING.

This is the road in front of my house on a rainy winter night. The scene is from a couple of weeks back, it was cold and raining and I thought that the lights from the houses and the reflections on the street made for an interesting composition. This is the first time that I have painted a night scene and for some reason this painting looks somewhat European to me, I'm not sure why, Tennessee is a long way from Paris. But I did enjoy creating the painting and really like the effects of the reflected light. I hope that you enjoy it!

Portrait- Cheyenne, Bear, Smokey

Cheyenne, Bear, Smokey 24 in. x 30 in. Oil On Panel - SOLD

This was a commissioned portrait of three dogs. Two of them, the big brown in the middle, and the black and white on the right were done posthumously unfortunately. The brown and white on the left is very sweet and doing fine. This was an interesting painting for me because I had to work from several older photos for two of them and then create a composition that worked for all three. I hope that you enjoy the painting!
